4th Street connects a diverse population of businesses, residents, event goers and tourists. From the James J. Hill Center and Ordway in the Rice Park neighborhood to the Union Depot, Farmers’ Market and CHS Field in Lowertown, 4th Street is an important connective corridor in the heart of downtown. With the opening of the Green Line, the newly completed CHS Field and the planning of the Capital City Bikeway, now is the time to realize a vibrant 4th Street.

With the Green Line now running along the south side of the street and no room for parking, the nature of this roadway has been permanently altered. This is a fantastic opportunity for us to reimagine how this street could be better utilized. Creating a space that is inviting to pedestrians and bicyclists will lead to more people on the street and better opportunities to develop thriving retail and other development.
